Public speaking is a crucial act of leadership in all organizations. This hands-on workshop supplies you the know-how to address groups of colleagues, clients, partners persuasively. You improve the crafting and delivery of your slide presentations and master audience engagement.

Business executives, engineers or technical staff who are called upon to deliver presentations to audiences of all sizes, both in-house and external.

The workshop is limited to eight participants to ensure intensive practice and individualized trainer feddback.

Composing your presentations

  • Addressing your audience’s needs, wants, expectations
  • Setting a goal for each presentation: something for the audience to understand, believe, or do
  • Defining key points to attain that goal

  • Organizing the key points in a clear, logical sequence: form/function, features/benefits, problem/solution, etc.

  • Presenting them with sparse, viewer-friendly text and graphics on a limited number of slides

 

Delivering your presentations

  • Channeling stage fright
  • Standing straight; moving purposefully
  • Breathing deeply to develop poise and resonance
  • Expressing yourself with face and voice
  • Articulating to be understood
  • Gesturing for emphasis
  • Varying pace, volume, and tone to hold interest
  • Looking at listeners one at a time
  • Eliminating distracting mannerisms and non-words (“aah”,“uhh”, etc.)

 

Engaging your audiences

  • Launching each presentation with a striking remark
  • Spelling out its theme, its goal, and the audience benefit from the start
  • Elaborating orally on your key points, adding value to slide content
  • Illustrating your message through vivid analogies and anecdotes
  • Quizzing listeners for added involvement
  • Reading their emotional response throughout the talk
  • Concluding with a call to action
  • Paraphrasing (aggressive) questions and answering them concisely

 

Workshop trainees:

  • are advised to wear casual clothes to perform exercises comfortably.
  • are encouraged to bring a characteristic presentation from work to practice with.
  • take home their presentation video as a tool for further progress.
